Lohardaga: Lohardaga Police has achieved great success against drug trafficking in the urban area. The team formed on the basis of secret information received by Superintendent of Police Sadiq Anwar Rizvi, conducted a raid in Lohardaga urban area and arrested two accused involved in buying and selling of brown sugar and sent them behind the bars on Tuesday. Sadar police station team, in a cordon operation near Dupatta Chowk in the urban area, caught two persons riding on an Apache motorcycle who were smuggling brown sugar. After which, during interrogation, brown sugar smuggling was exposed. On the instructions of SP Sadiq Anwar Rizvi, a raid team was formed under the leadership of Indian Police Service officer and Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Kisko, Vedant Shankar. The team formed by the policemen of Sadar police station searched the brown sugar smugglers caught by the police during the raid. In which about 15 grams of brown sugar kept in transparent plastic was recovered from the jacket of bike driver Sandeep Kumar.

During the search, Rs 530 in cash, a mobile phone of Redmi company (SIM no. 6200790926) and an electronic scale were also recovered from the cargo pants of brown sugar smuggler Sandeep Kumar (24 years), son of late Shivram, resident of Karkat in Latehar district. At the same time, Mohd., son of late Moin Ansari, resident of Anjuman Mohalla of Lohardaga urban area, sitting behind on the motorcycle. On searching Arshad Ansari alias Kundan (47 years), a gray colored keypad mobile (SIM number 7260931348) was found. The police also seized the black and red Apache motorcycle (number JH19F-3187) being used by both the accused. After which the action was completed by making a formal seizure list of all the materials recovered from the two smugglers arrested in the case of brown sugar smuggling. This information was given by SP Sadiq Anwar Rizvi. He said that the estimated market price of the seized brown sugar was estimated to be around Rs 52 thousand.

Superintendent of Police Sadiq Anwar Rizvi said that information is being collected about the source of drug smuggling and the active network behind it. Raids are being conducted continuously to identify other people involved in the case. SP says that drug trade will not be allowed to flourish in the city at any cost. He has made it clear that the campaign against drug smugglers will continue. An appeal has also been made to the common people that if they get information about buying and selling of drugs, they should immediately inform the police, so that the society can be made drug free.

FIR registered against smugglers under NDPS Act
An FIR has been registered under sections 17(B), 21(B), 22(B) and 29 NDPS Act on December 16 in Lohardaga Sadar police station case number 233/2025 against both the smugglers arrested in the case of brown sugar smuggling in Lohardaga. With this, the police have arrested both the accused and started further action under the judicial process.

Warish Hussain (Technical Branch), Pt. Pappu Kumar, Pt. Ramesh Kumar Singh, Pt. Sanjay Kumar, Pt. Chandradeep Mehta, Pt. Amarnath Pandey, constable Vijay Rana and lady constable Manti Kujur were involved.
