The clash occurred on Dec. 9 at Stade Louis II in Monaco. According to the Daily Mail, Ducruet was injured in his face, chest and arm during an altercation with a Turkish father and son, named Hasan B. and Selman B, according to Daily Mail.

Court records said tensions between visiting Turkish fans and home supporters had been building throughout the match, particularly in the VIP section, where heated exchanges and small scuffles were reported.

The situation escalated after the match ended. The confrontation reportedly began when a friend of Ducruet was heading toward the restroom. One of the defendants, Selman B., allegedly made a remark in Turkish that was taken as a provocation, quickly triggering a physical fight involving Ducruet and the father-and-son pair.

Although there was no security camera footage of the incident, medical reports submitted to the court confirmed that Ducruet sustained injuries to his face, chest and arms. One of the defendants was also said to have suffered minor injuries.

Testifying in court, Ducruet said: ‘I feared for my life. If I had taken that punch, I could have collapsed, been knocked out. I was afraid of being lynched.’

Selman B., however, denied wrongdoing and claimed he acted in self-defense, telling the court that a friend of Ducruet approached him aggressively before Ducruet grabbed his throat.

The court handed both Hasan B. and Selman B. suspended two-month prison sentences and imposed a three-year ban from the area. They were also ordered to pay a combined 1,000 euros (about US$1,175) in compensation to the three victims, including Ducruet.

Ducruet is the son of Princess Stéphanie and Daniel Ducruet and is a member of Monaco’s ruling Grimaldi family.

He has also drawn public attention for his marriage to Marie Chevallier, who has Vietnamese roots. The couple welcomed their second daughter in December 2024, following the birth of their first child in April 2023.
