Sunny Deol was seen in public for the first time after the demise of his father, veteran actor Dharmendra on November 24, 2025, at the grand teaser launch of ‘Border 2’ in Mumbai on December 16 – Vijay Diwas.
The actor made a dramatic appearance in a jeep with his co-stars Varun Dhawan and Ahan Shetty, setting the patriotic tone for the war drama sequel. During the event, Deol delivered the famous dialogue, “Awaaz kaun tak jaani chahiye?” Said, to which the audience replied “Till Lahore.” Tears welled up in his eyes as he passionately repeated that line, clearly emotional due to a recent personal loss.
The teaser, launched on Vijay Diwas to commemorate India’s 1971 victory, begins with Deol’s powerful voice-over, showcasing epic fight scenes, emotional depth, family relationships and the courage of Indian soldiers. Newcomers Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty also feature in the high-octane action alongside Deol.
Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta under T-Series and JP Films, ‘Border 2’ carries forward the legacy of the 1997 classic film. The cast also includes Medha Rana, Mona Singh and Sonam Bajwa.
Releasing in theaters on January 23, 2026, just ahead of Republic Day, the film promises to be a saga of sacrifice, valor and patriotism that will instill a sense of tremendous national pride.
