One lucky Brits has hit the jackpot, winning £2m on a scratchcard purchased from his local newsagent. The fortunate customer shelled out just £5 for the Black Pearl Deluxe Scratchcard before landing the game's top prize of £2m.

While the winner's identity remains undisclosed, the windfall has also brought good fortune to the shop owner in North Wales.

John Evans, the proprietor of the The Paper Shop on High Street, Prestatyn, has bagged a £10,000 reward from Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery, thanks to their 'Share the Win' initiative.

This scheme aims to spread the joy of winning by acknowledging National Lottery retailers who sell high-tier winning tickets or scratchcards (worth £50,000+).

An elated John Evans expressed his delight at the win, saying: "I'm absolutely delighted with my win. We're a seasonal business, so it's more than welcome and will really help us out."

Alison Acquaye-Acford, Allwyn's Director of Commercial Partnerships and Retail Sales, congratulated John and his store on their big win, calling it an early Christmas present from Allwyn.

She added: "This initiative is all about recognising the vital role retailers play in creating life-changing moments for players, multiplying that winning feeling and helping spread positivity in communities across the UK. This is all while continuing to help raise around £32 million every week for Good Causes.", reports North Wales Live.
