South Tyneside school updates: Police and paramedics swarm area as pupil tragically dies

Emergency services rushed at a school in South Tyneside following an medical emergency. The major 999 response included police and paramedics, as well as the deployment of an air ambulance.
The crews were called to St Wilfrid's RC College in South Shields shortly after 9.15am this morning, ChronicleLive reports. Shortly before 1pm, the headteacher of the school gave a tragic update, saying a pupil had died following a "medical episode".
