The airport received 46 international flights, the largest number ever recorded in a single day, bringing thousands of visitors to the island. The figure surpassed the previous peak of 40 international flights per day recorded in 2025.
South Korea accounted for 13 flights arriving from cities including Incheon, Busan, and Cheongju. On Jan. 1 and 2, more than 4,500 passengers arrived in Phu Quoc from South Korea.

Kazakhstan ranked second with six flights on Jan. 3, followed by Hong Kong with five and Thailand with four.
Overall flight volumes have also exceeded last year’s levels. From Jan. 1 to 4, the airport is set to welcomed a total of 288 flights, up 27% year-on-year. International services would account for 147 of these flights, averaging about 40 international flights per day, a 23% increase compared with the same period last year.
The surge coincided with a series of large-scale events and entertainment programs held across Phu Quoc to mark the New Year. Countdown celebrations, fireworks displays, beach music events, and a range of recreational and resort offerings contributed to heightened visitor demand during the holiday period.
According to a survey, many accommodation facilities on the island were fully booked over the New Year holiday.
Visitor numbers also rose at local amusement parks. A representative of the management unit at Sunset Town said visitor traffic during the New Year holiday increased by 76% compared with the same period last year. Restaurants in the area were frequently fully booked, particularly in the evenings.
The high volume of arrivals has also put pressure on local accommodation capacity. Previously, some international tourists reported problems with room availability despite having paid in advance, citing disputes with accommodation providers.
