
Lucknow, 5 January. Yogi Adityanath government has taken an important decision for the young candidates of the state who are waiting for recruitment in UP Police, which will directly benefit thousands of candidates. Actually, the state government has announced relaxation of three years in the age limit for the recruitment of 32, 679 posts. This decision has been taken after long standing demands. Regarding this issue, both Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party were demanding age relaxation from the government, which has now been approved.
Paving the way for recruitment in police and jail departments
With this decision of Chief Minister Yogi, the way has been cleared for recruitment in various departments of Police and Jail Department. Under this mega recruitment drive, appointments will be made on many posts. These include constables, PAC, Special Security Force (UPSSF), women battalion and jail warders.
Decision taken under this rule
This decision of the state government has been taken in the light of Rule 3 of Uttar Pradesh Public Service (Relaxation of age limit for recruitment) Rules-1992. The decision has been implemented through a government order issued on January 5, 2026, in continuation of the recruitment release issued on December 31, 2025. This will provide opportunity to a large number of candidates who were till now left out of the recruitment process due to age limit.
Decision taken in the interest of the candidates
A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said that the decision has been taken in the interest of the candidates. This step taken by CM Yogi clearly shows that the state government is conscious about the future of the youth. She also understands their real problems and does not shy away from taking concrete decisions to solve them. Providing opportunities to the candidates preparing for competitive examinations, providing maximum employment options, maintaining sensitivity in administrative decisions has become a part of the working style of the Yogi government.
SP and BJP had demanded
It is noteworthy that many public representatives including SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, BJP leader and MLA Shalabhamani Tripathi had written a letter to CM Yogi demanding relaxation in the age limit of the candidates for the police recruitment examination.
