Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, expects to receive up to 17 million foreign arrivals this year, up 11% year-on-year.

For the whole year of 2025 Indonesia was estimated to receive 15.3 million, up 10% from the previous year, Jakarta Globe reported.

Indonesia has been trying to recover its travel industry since Covid-19.

For 2026, the country has identified 15 priority markets in its tourism strategy for the 2025–2026 period, aiming to boost international arrivals, increase visitor spending, and extend average length of stay.

The 15 countries are Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, the U.K., Germany, France, Russia, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the U.S.

To improve the country’s tourism reputation, Indonesia authorities, particularly in Bali, have been cracking down on unruly tourists through stricter enforcement of rules against disrespectful behavior, visa violations and environmental damage, implementing new guidelines for modest dress and proper conduct at sacred sites.

Many foreigners were deported from Indonesia last year for breaking regulations.
