Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Maharashtra unit president Ravindra Chavan had said in a public meeting in Latur that the memories of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh would be erased from the state. Vilasrao Deshmukh’s son and film actor Riteish Deshmukh has said that his father’s memories cannot be erased.
Responding to Ravindra Chavan, Riteish Deshmukh said, ‘I want to say with folded hands that the names of those who live for the public leave a deep impression in the hearts of the people. What is written can be erased, but not the deep impression.
Virendra Chavan had said that the memories of late Congress veteran Vilasrao Deshmukh will be erased from his hometown Latur. Virendra was addressing a public meeting. To boost the enthusiasm of the workers, he gave such a statement, due to which he is the target of Congress leaders.

Criticized the statements made on Congress leader Vilasrao Deshmukh. Congress leaders have said that they had dedicated their lives for the development of the state, but BJP is undermining them. Congress said such statements reflect arrogance and ignorance of the legacy of Vilas Rao Deshmukh.
Congress leader Amit Deshmukh said, ‘It is unfortunate that BJP leaders are making such statements. He has insulted the sentiments of the people of Latur. We condemn his statement. Vilasrao Deshmukh has worked for everyone. BJP leaders should accept the truth.
Who was Vilasrao Deshmukh?
Vilasrao Deshmukh was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra twice. He commanded the state from October 1999 to January 2003 and from November 2004 to December 2008.
Ravindra Chavan apologized on the statement
Ravindra Chavan has apologized for his statement. He has said, ‘I have not criticized Vilasrao Deshmukh in my statement. Congress is asking for votes in his name. His son has feelings, he is my friend, if he is feeling sad then I am apologizing to him. My statement should not be seen through the prism of politics. It is more important that Latur should develop.
