‘Did not learn even from defeat’, BJP on Congress’ ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Quit Rally’ in Delhi
Samira Vishwas | January 7, 2026 6:24 AM CST

After being reduced to just 6 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress has once again organized a big rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. Thousands of Congress workers are arriving in this Congress rally. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are going to raise the issue of ‘vote theft’ with the workers in this rally. Even in Bihar elections, he had accused the Election Commission and Bharatiya Janata Party of making a dent in the opposition voters on the pretext of Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Now once again Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge are going to corner the Election Commission and BJP in the same way.

Big leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are participating in Congress’s ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’ rally. The party says that the Election Commission and BJP together are stealing votes by tampering with the voter list, against which this protest is being held. Despite the defeat in Bihar elections, Congress is not leaving this issue. Preparations for the rally are in full swing.

Workers gathering from many states

Apart from Delhi, thousands of workers are coming from states like UP, Haryana, Bihar, Punjab, Jharkhand. The party has set up a control room at the Akbar Road office. In several press conferences, Rahul Gandhi has presented evidence of irregularities in voter lists in states like Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka. They believe that this is an attack on democracy and want to make it a mass movement.

Alliance partners are not supporting

Allies have kept distance from this rally of Congress. After the defeat in Bihar, even Congress allies are shying away from Congress. Congress has collected more than 5 crore signatures across the country for this rally. Congress will raise the issue of vote theft in elections like Assam, Kerala, Bengal. This is being considered a strategy even before the elections. From here, Congress will give the mantra to its workers to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level.

On one hand, Congress is excited about this rally, on the other hand BJP has termed this rally as a cliché. BJP says that Congress has not been able to learn anything even after the crushing defeat in Bihar assembly elections.

What is BJP saying?

NDA alliance leader Upendra Kushwaha said, ‘Congress people are working in vain. There is no issue of vote theft. He is still not able to understand anything, when the people of Bihar have given him a reply in the name of vote theft. Congress people have fallen face down. Despite that, these people are making this issue an issue.

BJP leader Sambit Patra said, ‘Today the Congress party is holding a rally against vote theft at Ramlila Maidan. It is being said that people are also coming from other Congress ruled states. It is surprising that the Congress party is holding this rally even after the discussion in the temple of democracy i.e. the House. The same Congress party had applied in the House for discussion on SIR, everyone in the House expressed their views and the Union Home Minister also responded to it.
