The draft voter list has been released in Uttar Pradesh after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, in which around 2.89 crore people have been excluded. Praising this process, BJP leaders said that the work of the Election Commission is impartial.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak told news agency IANS, “The draft voter list has arrived. All booth workers should study it and help the Election Commission in making an accurate and transparent voter list.”

Appealing to the people of the state, Brajesh Pathak said, “They should check their names in the voter list. If there is any mistake, there is still a chance to correct it. Eligible people should get their names included in the voter list.” During this, while targeting his opponents, he said, “Akhilesh Yadav is seeing his possible defeat. No one will ever accept the goons and jungle raj of Samajwadi Party.”

BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia said that names of 2.89 crore people in Uttar Pradesh have been removed from the voter list. One month’s time has been given to lodge objections, and people are checking the names at their respective centres. The deletion of such a large number of names shows that the voter list was not updated for a long time.

He said that the work of this Election Commission is impartial. One more month’s time is being given to valid voters to add their names. Those who do not lodge any objection or claim, their votes will not be included in the voter list. Yogendra Chandolia said that Rohingyas could be among the removed voters. Apart from this, names of the dead and names of shifted people are included.

On the draft voter list of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar government minister Lakhendra Kumar Paswan said that the Election Commission works impartially and takes right decisions and transparency in the voter list is very important.

He said, “As seen in the recent elections in Bihar, names of people who had died 15-20 years ago were also found in the voter list. Earlier, opposition parties had alleged that ‘vote theft’ was taking place, but after the public response, those allegations have now been proven false. Similar problems can arise in Uttar Pradesh or any other state.”
