An interesting case has come to light in the Maharashtra Municipal Council elections. Here in Ambernath, local BJP leaders formed an alliance with Congress and in Akot, Owaisi’s party AIMIM. After the matter came to light in the media, Congress has suspended Ambanath block president Pradeep Patil.
On the other hand, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis expressed his strong displeasure. The CM has ordered local BJP leaders to immediately end the alliance at both the places.
According to media reports, BJP formed an alliance with Congress in order to capture Ambarnath Municipal Council and keep its ally Shiv Sena out. Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena objected to this. Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde said, ‘You (media) should ask BJP why they made this alliance? Their (BJP) leaders might have made this alliance for the sake of power. Senior BJP leaders should take action on this.
What is the political equation of Ambernath?
There are a total of 60 seats in Ambernath Municipal Council. Shiv Sena won maximum 27 seats. This is just 4 short of the majority figure. BJP won 14 seats, Congress 12 and Ajit Pawar’s NCP won 4 seats. Independents won on two seats. If BJP has to capture the Municipal Council then it is not possible without the support of Congress. This is the reason why the local leaders of the party did not hesitate in joining hands with the Congress.
Alliance with Owaisi’s party in Akot
Even in Akot Municipal Council of Akola district, the figures are not in favor of BJP. This is the reason why here also it had to join hands with other parties including Owaisi’s party. However, CM Devendra Fadnavis is unhappy with these alliances.
Congress suspended the block president
Congress reacted sharply to the alliance with BJP in Ambernath. Maharashtra Congress Vice President Ganesh Patil wrote a letter to Ambernath Congress Block President Pradeep Patil, saying, ‘We contested the elections on the Congress symbol and won 12 seats. But without informing the state leadership, you formed an alliance with BJP. We got this information from media source. that is not good. You are being suspended from the party.
