Desk: The news of an alliance between the country’s two largest and conflicting political parties created a political uproar. The alliance between the two parties broke down within a few hours amid political turmoil in the local body elections in Maharashtra. As soon as the news of alliance between Congress and BJP came in Maharashtra’s Ambernath Municipal Council elections on Wednesday, both the parties started facing disgrace. After this, damage control started from both sides, on one hand Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis raised objection to the alliance and on the other hand Congress dissolved its entire organizational unit in Ambernath.

What is the action of Congress?

Following the instructions of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal, the party committee there has been suspended. The party has suspended Ambernath Block Congress Committee President Pradeep Patil with immediate effect. All the elected councilors of Congress in Ambernath Municipal Council have been suspended on charges of anti-party activities. Apart from this, Ambernath Block Congress Committee has been dissolved.

Jharkhand Public Service Commission released the calendar of 28 examinations, Civil Services Preliminary Examination will be held on March 8.
CM Fadnavis had reprimanded

Before the Congress action, CM Devendra Fadnavis had strongly criticized BJP leaders and warned of action for alleging alliance with Congress and AIMIM in Ambernath and Akola. He had made it clear that such alliances have been made without the approval of the senior leadership of the party and violate organizational discipline.
Fadnavis had said, ‘I am making it clear that any kind of alliance with Congress or AIMIM will not be acceptable. If any local leader has taken such a decision on his own free will, then it is against discipline and action will be taken against him. He further said that instructions have already been issued to cancel such alliances.

Equation of Ambernath Municipal Council

There are a total of 59 councilors in Ambernath Municipal Council. In the last civic elections, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena became the largest party by winning 28 seats. Ruling partner BJP stood second with 15 councillors, while Congress stood third with 12 seats. Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (AP) had got four seats. This time the equations changed in Ambernath Municipal Council, which was in the possession of Shiv Sena for a long time. Despite being the second largest party, BJP formed an alliance with Congress to keep Shiv Sena (Shinde) away from power. The alliance, named ‘Ambernath Vikas Aghadi’, has the support of 31 councilors, one more than the majority mark of 30.
