Congress MP Imran Masood has expressed strong objection to the bulldozer run by MCD on Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque located near Turkman Gate in Delhi. He raised the question whether it is being considered that the mosque is an illegal construction.
While talking to news agency IANS, Imran Masood said that this mosque is very old and it was built at a time when no law like Waqf Act existed.
He said that at the time when the mosque was constructed, no act of any kind was in force. In such a situation, declaring it illegal not only ignores historical facts but also shows an insensitive attitude towards religious places.
Congress MP Imran Masood has also expressed serious concern regarding the SIR Draft Voter List 2026 in Uttar Pradesh. He said that he would first look at the draft report in detail and only then make any final comments. However, based on initial information, he claimed that in Saharanpur city alone, about 25 percent of the votes have been canceled.
He said that deletion of voters’ names on such a large scale raises a very serious question and it is necessary to know how and for what reasons this process was adopted. Calling it worrying for the democratic system, he demanded transparency.
Imran Masood also gave his reaction regarding the big campaign that is going to be launched in Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of the birthday of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is a big face of the Congress Party and she is established as a prominent leader of the country.
At the same time, while reacting to the strict action being taken against PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in JNU over controversial slogans, the Congress MP raised questions on the attitude of the administration. The administration said that it will not allow a school of hatred to be built. Masood said that things like ‘school of hatred’ are being said, while Umar Khalid has been in jail for a long time.
Masood cited the recent statement of the Supreme Court, which says that granting bail is the rule and not granting bail is the exception. He said that the Supreme Court is repeatedly reiterating this principle, but it is not being implemented in the case of Omar Khalid. Masood demanded that the Chief Justice of the country should take suo motu cognizance of this entire matter.
He also said that even though Umar Khalid was not present there when the riots were happening, keeping him in jail for a long time is against the basic principles of justice. The Supreme Court itself has said that keeping a person in jail for an excessive period of time is tantamount to punishment and his rights cannot be violated by citing the seriousness of the crime.
