Desk: ED on Thursday raided the premises of election strategy making company I-PAC. After this action of ED before the assembly elections, politics has heated up in West Bengal. There was a lot of high-voltage drama following the raids at the house and firm of Salt Lake based I-PAC senior Pradik Jain. During the ED search, West Bengal Chief Minister reached Prateek Jain’s house and made big allegations against BJP.

On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided premises linked to political consultancy firm I-PAC, which is linked to Mamata Banerjee’s TMC. After this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reacted sharply and accused the central agencies of stealing TMC’s documents. During this, Mamata Banerjee called Union Home Minister Amit Shah a mischievous Home Minister. After the allegation of document ‘theft’, some files present in the office were picked up and kept in the car of Mamata Banerjee’s convoy. Now questions are being raised as to what information is safe inside these files, which were hastily kept inside the car. The answer to this will be known only when any statement to this is issued by TMC or ED. ED raided the house of a senior I-PAC official, Prateek Jain, in Central Kolkata and the firm’s office in Godrej Waterside Building in Sector V, Salt Lake. Prateek Jain is said to be an important member of Mamata Banerjee’s election strategy team.

Mamata Banerjee directly targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah and accused him of getting this action done, saying, “All this has been done by that mischievous Home Minister, who cannot keep the country safe. Amit Shah wants to collect the list of our party’s candidates.”
“They are taking documents of my party, there were no guards there. On one hand, there is the SIR case, where names are being removed, and on the other, they are collecting documents,” he said.
Questioning the legality of the move, Banerjee raised the question whether it is the job of the ED to seize political material? He asked, “Is it the job of the ED and the Home Minister to collect the list of candidates, party strategy and party plans?”

As soon as news of the raid spread, TMC leaders started gathering outside the Salt Lake office. Amidst the increasing tension, Bidhannagar Police Commissioner also reached the spot. Mamta Banerjee was initially at one place, later went towards Sector V office.
Speaking to reporters, Mamata Banerjee alleged that the ED raid was to access the internal political material of her party. The Chief Minister alleged, “It is very unfortunate that ED came to our IT sector office to collect the list of candidates, party strategy, party plans and other documents.”
