There may have been a discussion over breakfast between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar in Karnataka, but the tussle between the two still continues. A high level meeting of Congress was also held in Delhi regarding the ongoing tussle between the CM and Deputy CM over the post of Chief Minister but it yielded no results. This meeting took place at Sonia Gandhi’s residence in Delhi.
This meeting of the Congress high command took place at a time when recently CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar had a breakfast meeting at each other’s house. This meeting took place between the two only at the behest of the high command.
However, despite this the ongoing tension between the two in Karnataka has not ended. To settle the matter between the two, a meeting was held on Saturday at the residence of Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi.

What is the controversy in Karnataka?
Congress government was formed in Karnataka in May 2023. It is believed that at that time a formula of 2.5-2.5 years was made regarding power sharing. Under this, Siddaramaiah will be the CM for the first two and a half years and Shivkumar will be the Chief Minister for the remaining two and a half years.
Shivkumar had further fueled the speculations regarding this formula when he said that there was a ‘secret meeting between 5-6 people’.
On November 20, Siddaramaiah’s government completed two and a half years. Since then the tussle has intensified. Many Congress MLAs had come to Delhi and were allegedly pressurizing Shivkumar to make him the CM.
However, both the leaders do not say anything openly on this. Siddaramaiah claims that he will remain the Chief Minister for 5 years and will also present the next budget. At the same time, Shivkumar says that he never asked for the post of Chief Minister. He will do whatever the party says.
