The teams of Kerala and Indian Railways continued their valiant performance in the 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship here and secured a place in the finals of both the categories. For the women’s title, there will be a title meeting once again between defending champion Kerala and defending runner-up Railways.
Kerala men defeat Punjab in straight sets
In the first semi-final of the men’s category, Railways won 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13) in the first semi-final of the men’s category late in the evening on the seventh day of the competition organized for the first time in Varanasi in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation at Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium (Sigra) and broke the challenge of the defending champions Services. In the final, Railways will face Kerala, who defeated Punjab 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22) in straight sets in the last semi-final of the day.
Haryana and Rajasthan women’s teams lost in the semi-finals
On the other hand, Kerala women’s team, trying to win the sixth consecutive title, gave an easy defeat to Haryana 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 35-33) in the semi-finals played during the day. Kerala, which broke the challenge of host Uttar Pradesh in the quarter-finals a day earlier, will now face Railways, who defeated Rajasthan 3-1 (25-13, 25-16, 24-26, 25-19) after losing a set.

Champion teams will be given an equal cash amount of Rs 2.50 lakh.
An equal cash amount of Rs 2.50 lakh will be provided to the women’s and men’s teams winning the championship. The second place teams will be given a prize of Rs 1.50 lakh each and the third place team will be given a prize of Rs 1 lakh each. Apart from this, players will also be given shield, medal and certificate. The best players of men and women categories will be awarded special prizes. In these, players selected in the categories of Best Attacker, Best Blocker, Best Setter, Best Universal, Best Libero and Most Valuable Player will be given a cash prize of Rs 11,000 each.
sunday matches , On Sunday, the last day of the competition, the hardline matches (bronze medals) of women’s and men’s categories will start simultaneously on Court No. 1 and 2 from 8 am. In the women’s category, Rajasthan and Haryana and in the men’s category, Services and Punjab will play for the bronze medal. After this, the final match of the women’s category will be played from 10.30 am while the title match of the men’s category will be played from 1.30 pm.
