If we talk about digestion, green chillies activate digestive enzymes when taken in limited quantity. However, it may cause irritation or acidity in people with sensitive stomach. At the same time, red chilli can increase the problem of burning sensation in the stomach and intestines if consumed in excess, hence it should be consumed only in a balanced form.
Experts believe that instead of comparing green and red chillies, it is better to decide their use as per the need and health condition. Green chillies are considered more useful for daily fresh nutrition, while red chillies are convenient as long-term storage spices and add depth to the flavour.
Even in Ayurveda, the importance of both the chillies is different. Green chilli is considered to enhance digestion and immunity, while red chilli is said to be helpful in providing warmth to the body and removing stiffness.
