Everyone deserves an occasional indulgence, and few things satisfy quite like a generous helping of fish and chips. But there's one particular establishment that's been grabbing attention lately, with diners raving it's dishing out "perfect" meals.

Food enthusiasts might want to make a beeline for this spot, as people simply can't stop raving about the quality on offer. The chippy recently came under the spotlight thanks to a TikTok reviewer known as The Official Bearded Welshman, whose glowing assessment of the establishment has set tongues wagging after he awarded it a stellar 9/10 rating.

In his viral clip, he revealed he's embarked on a quest to uncover South Wales' finest fish and chip shop, with his maiden tasting session in Skewen leaving him thoroughly blown away. After sampling the traditional fare, he was rendered speechless with a simple "wow", such was his amazement at the exceptional quality.

He declared: "Hey guys. Come with me to check out Sim's Fish and Chips in Skewen. First up, let's hunt for that shandy. Next up, let's get that fish and chips.

"And yes, lots of people were ordering fish and chips so this must be good. I ordered fish and chips, one gravy and a bitter shandy.

"Plenty of salt and vinegar. They do lots of different foods here guys. They do gluten-free, as well. Let's take this back and give it a try."

Prior to diving in, he showcased the mouth-watering spread, and it's safe to say it looked absolutely scrumptious. He discovered a small cod morsel on the side, which he confessed was "really good".

He raved about the batter being "very light" and was blown away by the generous portion of fish. He declared it "spot on" and clearly relished every mouthful as he tucked in.

The fish was flaking apart beautifully, and he confessed the gravy was equally "tasty". He described the fish supper as exactly what you crave when treating yourself to a takeaway.

He continued: "If I could criticise by one thing, I'd like that batter a little bit more crispier but, other than that, amazing. These crispy chips.

"Absolutely amazing. It's the first fish and chips of the series, and I'm going to give that a 9/10. Fish was cooked to order. Fish was perfect. If that batter was slightly crispier, that would be a 10/10. That's my review."

His verdict sparked loads of chatter about people's go-to chip shops, with plenty quick to shout about Sim's. In even better news, he revealed prices kick off from just £8.00.

Over on Facebook, Sim's is also collecting glowing reviews. Punters are dishing out five-star ratings left, right and centre.

One delighted customer gushed: "My family and I went there for tea tonight for the first time. The food was absolutely excellent. Fantastic service. Five stars."

Another penned: "By far the best fish and chip shop in Skewen, and probably even further. Staff [are] always smiling and cheerful, very helpful. Fish cooked fresh to order and chips are amazing."

A third chimed in with: "Absolutely fabulous food. Even sent a complimentary sausage as they knew we had a dog. Thank you. Will definitely order again."

Another satisfied customer shared their experience, saying: "Ordered via Just Eat and the food was amazing. Plus, to find somewhere that does gluten-free is rare. The staff are super friendly and so helpful. I will definitely be ordering again."

Yet another fan of the establishment raved: "The best chip shop around. Absolutely lovely owners and staff and great food. Always fresh and piping hot. Had our first delivery from them today and again fresh, tasty, hot food and delivered in a speedy time. Highly recommend."
