New Delhi. Congress has alleged that under pressure from Donald Trump, Narendra Modi has given up control of Iran’s Chabahar Port. The Indian Foreign Ministry has responded to this. Responding to the questions of journalists, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, as you know that on October 28, 2025, the US Finance Department had issued a letter to us. In that letter we were given information about exemption from unconditional sanctions. This discount is valid till 26 April 2026. We are in talks with the US side to work on this arrangement.
At the same time, BJP has cornered Congress in this matter after the reply of the Ministry of External Affairs. BJP said that Congress leaders are spreading lies like Rahul Gandhi, their claim of surrender at Chabahar port is fabricated. India has full control over Chabahar and development work is underway, thereby ensuring the security of its strategic gateway to Afghanistan and Central Asia, bypassing Pakistan. The ongoing talks with the US to implement and expand this arrangement reflect India’s strong diplomacy. All the facts have been made clear by the Ministry of External Affairs and Congress should consider them seriously.
Chabahar is important for India
Let us tell you that Congress also alleged that Modi government had invested 120 million dollars in the development project of Chabahar Port and now this entire amount has been wasted. Congress raised the question of India and said that why India’s foreign policy is being decided from the White House of America? It is noteworthy that India had signed an agreement with Iran in the year 2016 and under the same, the work of developing Chabahar Port was started. Its main objective is to create a trade route between India, Iran and Afghanistan. Chabahar Port is very special for India because from here, bypassing Pakistan, there is a direct route for trade to Afghanistan and Central Asia.
