The first poster of Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, has triggered a wave of reactions on social media, with a section of users accusing the makers of copying the original film’s artwork.
The romantic drama marks the second theatrical outing of Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan, and the Bollywood debut of Sai Pallavi. The poster, unveiled on Thursday, quickly became a talking point online, especially on Reddit, where opinions were sharply divided.
While several users praised the lead pair’s on-screen presence, others criticised the poster for allegedly lacking originality. Many netizens claimed that the design closely resembled the poster of the original Thai film One Day, on which Ek Din is based. Some also took issue with the Hindi remake’s title, calling it a direct translation.
One user commented, “The poster looks exactly the same,” while another wrote, “Remake of Thai movies, the original movie’s poster itself has been used.” Others remarked, “They’ve simply translated the title,” with one user joking, “The original was called One Day — they’ve just made it Ek Din.”
A Reddit user also quipped, “Poster is also copied. AI should really take over. Real creators are busy copying frame by frame.”
Amid the criticism, the poster also received positive feedback, with many fans expressing excitement about the fresh pairing. Some even likened Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi to “Clark Kent and Lois Lane,” praising their chemistry.
Ek Din is the official Hindi remake of the 2016 Thai film One Day, directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun. The Hindi version is directed by Sunil Pandey and produced by Aamir Khan. The film is slated for release on May 1, 2026.
Initially planned for a November 2025 release, the project was later postponed. The film was earlier titled Mere Raho. Junaid Khan made his acting debut with Maharaj in 2024, followed by Loveyapa in 2025, while Ek Din will mark Sai Pallavi’s first appearance in a Bollywood film.
