The signing isn’t expected to happen immediately, with Baldwin likely joining the team for Monday’s game in Washington after the Clippers finish a road stop in Toronto and take the weekend off.
The former 28th overall pick has appeared in 93 NBA games with the Golden State Warriors, Washington Wizards and Clippers.
He finished last season on a two-way deal with Los Angeles, returned for training camp this fall, and was waived before the regular season.
Since then, Baldwin has played for the San Diego Clippers, where he has averaged 21.1 points and 6.7 rebounds while logging heavy minutes.
Los Angeles has an open roster spot, so no additional move will be needed.
The short-term deal would keep the team just under the first-apron hard cap while also providing added flexibility with its two-way players, including Kobe Sanders and Jordan Miller, by allowing the Clippers to carry a full 15-man roster during Baldwin’s stint.
