Guru Dronacharya Birth Story: There are many characters in the story of Mahabharata who are powerful as well as mysterious. Guru Dronacharya is one such character of Mahabharata. Dronacharya was a disciple of Lord Parashurama. He taught weapons to the Kauravas and Pandavas. His son's name was Ashwatthama. Guru Dronacharya had an important role in the war of Mahabharata as well as in the lives of all the major warriors.
Guru Dronacharya made Arjun the best archer, but he fought the Mahabharata war on behalf of the Kauravas and attained martyrdom. Like his life journey, the story of his birth is also very interesting, about which very few people know. In such a situation, let us know how Guru Dronacharya was born?
How was Guru Dronacharya born?
There used to be a great sage. His name was Maharishi Bhardwaj. He used to do penance by building an ashram on the banks of river Ganga. One day he went to take bath in the Ganga. During that time, he saw the heavenly nymph Ghritachi there. On seeing the Apsara, though unknowingly, a feeling of lust arose in the mind of Maharishi Bhardwaj. After this, semen was ejaculated from his body.
On this he immediately collected that semen in his kamandalu (vessel). After this, by the grace of God, a divine child was born in the same Kamandalu, who was named Drona. In Sanskrit, “Drona” means vessel (kamandal), hence he was called Dronacharya. Dronacharya was not born from a woman's womb, but in a vessel, which is unique in itself.
Dronacharya's son is still alive
Dronacharya was married to Kripacharya's sister Kripi. Later, they got a son, whom they named Ashwatthama. Ashwatthama was cursed by Lord Krishna at the end of the Mahabharata war. It is believed that due to the curse of God, Ashwatthama is still wandering and is alive, suffering the punishment of his sins.
