New Delhi, 16 January 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated the countrymen and especially the young entrepreneurs on the completion of 10 years of ‘Startup India’ initiative. He has described Indian startups as ‘engines’ of change which are giving a new shape to the future of the country’s economy and society.

PM Modi stressed that due to the government’s ‘Reform Express’, today Indian startups are making inroads even in previously unimaginable areas like space and defence. He added that, startups are not only solving problems, but also creating new opportunities for millions of people. The role of startups is very important in the resolve to create ‘self-reliant India’. The enthusiasm and passion of the youth will be the biggest force in realizing the dreams of a developed India.
The Prime Minister thanked not only the entrepreneurs, but also the mentors, incubators and investors. He said that it is because of the guidance of these colleagues that the youth of India have been encouraged to take risks and do new experiments.
It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the ‘Startup India’ campaign on January 16, 2016. Subsequently, to honor their invaluable contribution to the economy, an official announcement was made to celebrate January 16 as ‘National Startup Day’ in the year 2022. Today, after 10 years, India has become one of the largest startup hubs in the world.
