The intense cold and dense fog in Uttar Pradesh are severely affecting people's daily lives. Visibility is significantly reduced in the mornings, making it risky for young children to go to school. This decision has been taken prioritizing the safety and health of the children. Let's find out which districts in UP will have school closures on January 17th.

On the instructions of the District Magistrate, a holiday has been declared for all government and private schools in the district for classes nursery to 8th grade on January 16th and 17th, 2026. The order issued by District Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar clearly states that due to low visibility in the morning, children may face difficulties commuting to and from school, hence the decision to close the schools.

The effects of the cold weather continue in the Saharanpur district as well. All schools from class 1 to 8 will remain closed until January 17th. The district administration says that the dense fog in the morning could pose a threat to the safety of the children, hence this step has been taken.

Important precautions for parents
In this cold weather, it is very important to take special care of children's health. Experts advise that children should wear warm clothes even indoors to prevent them from catching a cold.
It is better to give children lukewarm water instead of cold water. This can help prevent colds, coughs, and throat problems.
Cold winds are stronger in the early morning and late evening, so avoid taking young children outside unless absolutely necessary.
In addition, parents are advised to keep an eye on school WhatsApp groups, notices, or official announcements.
