Hundreds of children disabled for life
This problem is not limited to any one village or one family. In many villages like Fatehullapur, Hariharpur, Pathanpur, Hala, Shikarpur, Dhari Kala, Augusta, Bhoraha, Bhikkepur, Tardih, Gola and Rathuli, 8 to 10 children from each village are said to be victims of this disease. In some places, a 6-month-old child was affected, and in others, symptoms appeared after a year or two. In some cases the disease surfaced even after 4–5 years.
