The Australian tennis season is in full swing as the Adelaide International wrapped up just days before the Australian Open. The tournament is the final major warm up event before the first Grand Slam of the year and once again delivered high level tennis on both the men’s and women’s sides.

The Adelaide International is a WTA 500 and ATP 250 event and regularly attracts some of the biggest names in the sport. In 2025, Madison Keys used her Adelaide title as momentum for her first Grand Slam win in Melbourne. This year, a new set of champions emerged.

On the women’s side, Mirra Andreeva claimed the title in dominant fashion. The young star defeated Victoria Mboko in the final with a straight sets win. Andreeva controlled the match from the start and showed why she is considered one of the brightest talents in women’s tennis. Her run included strong wins throughout the week and she never looked under pressure in the final.

Victoria Mboko still impressed despite the loss. The Canadian put together a strong tournament and reached the final after several tough matches. Kimberly Birrell also gave Australian fans something to cheer about with a deep run, highlighted by multiple wins against higher ranked opponents.

The men’s final delivered a tighter battle. Ugo Humbert emerged as the champion after a hard fought three set win over Tomas Machac. Humbert showed patience and composure after dropping the second set and closed the match strongly to lift the trophy. It was a confidence boosting win as he heads into the Australian Open.

Machac also had a solid week, knocking off top seeds and proving he can compete deep into tournaments. Several Australian players featured throughout the draw, with local crowds filling the stands and creating a lively atmosphere across the week.

The tournament once again served its purpose as a perfect lead in to Melbourne. Players used the conditions, match intensity, and quick turnaround schedule to prepare their bodies and games for the Australian Open.

Fans in Australia were able to watch the Adelaide International on free to air television through 9GEM, with live streaming available on 9NOW. Every match from the main draw was also available on Stan Sport.

With Adelaide now complete, attention turns fully to Melbourne. Momentum has been built. Confidence has been gained. And for many players, Adelaide may have been the first sign of something bigger to come at the Australian Open.
