In the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, Team India came to Queens Sports Club to play its second match against Bangladesh. The match was delayed due to rain, but before that a shocking incident caught everyone's attention during the toss. The captains of both the teams avoided the traditional handshake. This incident also came into limelight because last year in Asia Cup 2025, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav had refused to shake handshake with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga. Now this trend seems to be reaching Bangladesh.

Handshake controversy in India-Bangladesh match

India's Under-19 team is being led by Ayush Mhatre. On the other hand, the captain of Bangladesh is Azizul Hakim. But at the time of the toss, vice-captain Jawad Abrar stepped onto the field. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first, but the captains did not shake hands. Both stood near each other, then separated without any greeting. Usually, during the toss, both the captains shake hands with each other. But this was not seen here, a video related to this incident is also going viral on social media.

This incident is also believed to be a result of the increasing tension between BCCI and BCB in recent times. Recently, Kolkata Knight Riders had released Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman for IPL 2026, the reason behind which is said to be the instructions of BCCI. Also, citing security and other issues, Bangladesh Cricket Board has demanded to shift its matches of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India to Sri Lanka. The root of all these incidents is the barbaric violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, along with this an anti-India atmosphere is also being seen in Bangladesh.
