CM Yogi Adityanath Statement: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has termed the videos and allegations going viral on social media regarding Kashi Vishwanath Dham as completely wrong. Making a direct attack on Congress, he said that even when Kashi Vishwanath Dham was being constructed, some people had hatched conspiracies and the same mentality is being seen even today. While talking to journalists after having darshan of Baba Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that the remains of broken idols were picked up from the idol making workshops and made viral on social media and the lie was spread that temples were being demolished, whereas this is completely untrue.

Viral video on social media is completely misleading

The Chief Minister said that for the last one or two days, some videos related to the demolition of Kashi temples and Manikarnika Ghat are being made viral on social media. To clarify the truth of these videos and present the correct facts to the public, he himself had to come before the media. He said that propaganda is being carried out in a planned manner to hamper the overall development that has taken place in Kashi in the last 11 years. Its purpose is only to confuse the public.

In 11 years, Kashi created a new model of development and heritage.

CM Yogi said that Kashi is not just a city but the soul of Sanatan culture. Every follower of Sanatan religion and every Indian has deep reverence for Kashi. But for a long time in independent India, Kashi did not get the respect and development it deserved. In the last 11 years, Kashi has established new dimensions of physical development while preserving its spiritual and cultural heritage. Today Kashi is creating a new identity at the global level.

Prime Minister Modi's vision: 'Meri Kashi'

The Chief Minister said that it is the good fortune of Kashi that the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself is an MP from here. He often says 'Meri Kashi' in his speeches. The Prime Minister had made it clear from the beginning that while preserving the ancient heritage of Kashi, it should be connected with modern facilities. Under this thinking, all the development projects of Kashi were prepared and implemented.

Historic increase in the number of devotees after Kashi Vishwanath Dham

In the year 2025 itself, more than 11 crore devotees visited Baba Vishwanath.

Kashi's contribution of Rs 1.3 lakh crore to the country's GDP

The Chief Minister said that since the construction of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Kashi has contributed about Rs 1.3 lakh crore to the country's GDP. This not only promoted religious tourism but also strengthened local employment and economy.

Temples were not destroyed, but they were revived

Accusing Congress, CM Yogi said that earlier too a lie was spread that temples were demolished during the construction of Kashi Vishwanath Dham. The truth is that the temples talked about are still there. The only difference is that earlier they were in a dilapidated condition, whereas now they have been renovated and made grand and safe.

Question to Congress on the statue of Mother Annapurna

The Chief Minister said that about 100 years ago the idol of Mata Annapurna was stolen and taken to Europe. Due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, that idol was brought back to India and installed in Kashi Vishwanath Dham. CM Yogi asked Congress why they did not make this effort when Congress was in power at the Center for most of the time from 1947 to 2014. He said that the Congress governments never had a sense of respect for India's heritage.

Insulting heritage through appeasement politics

CM Yogi said that Congress always did appeasement politics and insulted India's faith and heritage. The party which ignored the country's cultural heritage for decades is today raising questions on development work.

'The cat went to Haj after eating a hundred rats': CM Yogi

Criticizing Congress, the Chief Minister said that we do not need to learn from Congress how to respect heritage. Be it the construction of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, Kashi, Vindhyavasini Dham, Prayagraj or Buddhist pilgrimage sites – all the works related to the country's heritage are being completed successfully under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. He said that seeing the statements and actions of Congress leaders brings both laughter and pity. Their situation is exactly like that - 'The cat went for Haj after eating a hundred rats'. Those who have always opposed development will continue to obstruct every public welfare scheme in the future also.
