A 'youth retirement home' for young people is becoming popular in Malaysia. It gives people under 30 a chance to "do nothing" away from the stress of work. Due to its popularity, bookings have been completed till 2026.
In today's fast-paced life, how would it be if we got a chance to retire at the age of 25 instead of waiting for 60 years? It may sound strange, but one place is trending among the youth of Malaysia these days, and that is 'Youth Retirement Home'. Usually, retirement homes are for the elderly, but this center started in Gopan, Malaysia is for people below 30 years of age. This place is no less than a paradise for those who want to escape for some time from the heavy pressure of studies, career and goals.
There's only one condition for living in this retirement home: "Nothing to do." Meaning, there is no such compulsion to get up at this time or to work. Complete freedom from corporate emails and targets. You can keep watching the ducks, or just dream while looking at the sky. And yes, three meals a day of delicious local food is also available on time.
Why are youth doing this?
For the youth, this “fatigue” is not a fashion, but a way of survival. One can live here peacefully for a month by paying around 40,000 Indian rupees. Given the city's expensive rents and food expenses, young people find the deal lucrative.
It started with the 'Let it rot' concept started in China. Its message is that instead of wasting life by running after success in career, one should take some rest. The demand for such centers is increasing due to the increasing number of youth becoming mentally broken due to workload at the age of 25.
Now there is a long queue to come to this center built on a beautiful place of about 8 acres. Booking till January 2026 has already been completed. Youth from different corners of the world are coming here in search of peace.
