Up to six accused are reportedly involved in this case who are believed to be part of an organized grooming gang.

The matter became public when videos to the incident went viral on social media. After this, 200-300 people of the Sikh community gathered outside the residence of the accused and demonstrated demanding speedy justice. During the demonstration there were clashes with the police deployed to protect the property. The victim was eventually rescued by community intervention, leading to deep anger over alleged police inaction.
