Indore. In Madhya Pradesh, Congress MLA Phool Singh Baraiya’s indecent remarks about women and religious texts have created a stir in the politics of the entire country. After this statement of the MLA, BJP has opened a front against Congress. Just before Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has cornered him on this issue and demanded immediate suspension of MLA Baraiya.

What is the whole controversy?
During a conversation with the media, MLA Phool Singh Baraiya used objectionable words against women of a particular category and made a controversial statement linking sexual crimes with religious texts and ‘teerth phal’. BJP has termed his statement not only as anti-women but also an insult to the Dalit community.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s target on Rahul Gandhi-
Before Rahul Gandhi’s arrival in Indore, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said in strong words:

Demand for suspension: “MLA Phool Singh Baraiya is working to poison the society. Rahul Gandhi is coming to Indore, I demand him to immediately expel such a leader from the party.”

Test of common sense: CM said that if Rahul Gandhi does not take action, it will be considered that his claim of common sense towards all societies is mere hypocrisy.

“Woman is a goddess, not a political tool” – BJP’s sharp attack-
Bharatiya Janata Party has called this statement a display of ‘sick and criminal mentality’. The statement issued by the BJP said:

Calling the heinous crimes committed against women as ‘virtue’ or ‘pilgrimage’ is an attack on humanity.

Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi give the slogan “I am a girl, I can fight”, but are silent on the disgusting thinking of their own party leader. This silence is tantamount to support.

Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s “Save Constitution” yatra, BJP asked whether insulting women is the real thinking of Congress?

Archana Chitnis surrounded: ‘Is such comment on rape acceptable?’
BJP state spokesperson and former minister Archana Chitnis also described MLA Baraiya’s statement as full of misogyny. He said:

“Such insensitive statements cannot be expected from a public representative. The frustration that Baraiya has shown regarding the beauty and caste of women is shocking.”

He asked whether the Congress leadership has yet issued a show cause notice to Baraiya? The silence of Congress proves that this is a part of their old and distorted thinking.

Political conflict intensifies-
Just before Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Madhya Pradesh, this controversy has put Congress on the defensive. BJP has made it clear that it will not back down on this issue and will create a big movement by linking it with the respect of women and the deprived society.
