The Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Cell of Delhi Police has busted a gang involved in drug smuggling. The team has arrested two drug peddlers with 383 grams of illegal smack/heroin. This drug was being carried hidden in the car and its value in the international market was said to be more than Rs 1 crore.
On receiving secret information, the team started action under the leadership of Inspector Amit Solanki. The team included SI Arvind, SI Praveen, ASI Ravinder Kumar, Head Constable Amit, Head Constable Nitin, Head Constable Samrat, Head Constable Ravinder and Head Constable Ruby. Under the supervision of ACP Pankaj Arora and the direction of DCP Crime Branch Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the team started surveillance on 16 January 2026 at Maharaja Agrasen Marg, Village Naharpur, Rohini near Naharpur Bus Stand and the road leading to M2K Market.
There were two people including the driver in the car. On interrogation they were identified as Jaswant Singh alias Lallu (42) and Ashok Kumar (30). Both are residents of Sultanpuri area of Delhi. He could not give satisfactory answers and started talking vaguely. During a thorough search of the car, a packet of 383 grams of heroin was recovered from the hidden gap under the steering wheel.
Police registered a case and arrested both the accused. Investigation revealed that Jaswant Singh alias Lallu was earlier also involved in drug supply and was arrested from Sultanpuri police station in an FIR in 2021. Ashok Kumar has no previous criminal record.
The police have also seized the car. The investigation is ongoing so that the source of supply of drugs and other people involved in the network can be identified. This success shows the strong campaign of the police to curb drug smuggling in Delhi. The Crime Branch says that such operations will continue so that the city can be kept drug free.
