Strange relationship between love and anger
Many times it is said that we fight and get angry more with the people we love the most. It may sound strange to hear that we hurt the feelings of our loved ones, the ones who love us the most. This is a psychological trend that is seen throughout the world. However, this does not justify the behavior of people constantly hurting their wives, mothers, and friends and then getting it over with the excuse of “we love them, so we’re angry.” Let us know why we hurt our loved ones.
sense of security
When we are with strangers or people we don’t like, we are very polite. This is because we fear that if we are tough with them, they will leave us. But we do not have this fear with those we love. According to psychology, the thought that “no matter what I do, they will never leave me” leads us to get angry at them. We consider them “easy targets”.
displacement of emotions
We are unable to express insults and anger throughout the day in office or outside situations. When we return home, we take out all our pent-up anger on the people who love us. Showing anger at outsiders can have serious consequences, so we target our loved ones under the pretense that they understand us.
expectations
The closer we are to someone, the more our expectations increase. We want them to understand our feelings without saying anything. When they don’t live up to our expectations, our disappointment turns to anger, and we hurt them with words.
not being able to see one’s shortcomings
The people who love us the most are like mirrors for us. When they highlight our shortcomings or acknowledge our weaknesses, we become uncomfortable. Because of this insecurity, we try to put others down with words in self-defense.
