T20 World Cup 2026: Preparations for the T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka are at their peak. However, Bangladesh cricket team does not want to come to India and wants to play all its matches on Sri Lankan soil. In such a situation, ICC has talked to Bangladesh Cricket Board, after which Bangladesh Cricket Board has taken a big step and given suggestion to ICC.

BCB gave suggestion to ICC

According to the report of Cricbuzz, Bangladesh has asked ICC to change its group. BCB put forward this proposal during a meeting with ICC representatives in Dhaka on Saturday. Bangladesh asked the ICC to place them in Group C instead of Ireland so that they could play all their matches in Sri Lanka. Ireland is going to play its World Cup matches against Sri Lanka, Australia and Oman in Colombo. Apart from this, Ireland’s last match in the group stage is against Zimbabwe in Kandy.

As per the schedule, Bangladesh is currently in Group B. Bangladesh has to play its matches against West Indies, Italy and England in Kolkata. After this, Bangladesh will face Nepal in Mumbai.

BCB issued a statement

BCB issued a statement saying, “The BCB reiterated its request to the ICC to shift Bangladesh’s matches to Sri Lanka. The Board also shares the views and concerns of the Bangladesh Government regarding the safety of the team, Bangladeshi fans and the media.”
