New Delhi: Skoda India is preparing to launch the facelift version of its popular compact SUV Kushaq in the Indian market next week. This model is the first major update after its launch in 2021 and is also the first model to come under the India 2.0 strategy of Skoda-Volkswagen Group.
With the facelift, Skoda Kushaq is going to get a new challenge in the mid-size SUV segment, where vehicles like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara already have a strong hold. The company has also recently released a teaser of this, which has increased the curiosity of the customers.
Green camouflage SUV seen in teaser
In the teaser released on social media, Skoda Kushaq facelift has been seen in green color camouflage. At first glance, there do not appear to be any major changes in the styling, but there are indications that the company has made necessary updates while maintaining its iconic design.
Talking about the front profile, it can be given revised headlamps with a big butterfly grille, which will give a sharper and modern look to the SUV.
What will be new in exterior and interior
The new Kushaq is expected to get sleek LED daytime running lamps (DRL). Thin taillights at the rear can be joined together, which will make the car look more sporty. Along with this, new 17-inch matte black alloy wheels can also be provided.
Talking about the interior, it can be made more premium and appealing than before. Possible features could include a panoramic sunroof, digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system with sharp graphics.
Possible information about engines and variants
The facelifted Kushaq is expected to get 1.0 liter and 1.5 liter TSI petrol engine options. Rear disc brakes can be provided in 1.5 liter variants for better handling.
The top-spec variants are likely to get level-2 ADAS features, which may include safety features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. It is also speculated that the 1.5 liter TSI engine will come only with DSG gearbox and will not get a six-speed manual transmission.
Power and performance details
The 1.0 liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine generates 115 hp power and 178 Nm torque. At the same time, the 1.5 liter four-cylinder TSI engine gives power of 150 hp and torque of 250 Nm. These specifications make Kushaq strong in its segment.
Potential price and competition
The ex-showroom price of Skoda Kushaq facelift can start from around Rs 11.5 lakh. It is being told that its delivery will also start immediately after the launch. With new updates, this SUV will be ready to give direct competition to Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra and Maruti Grand Vitara.
