The Masked Singer witnessed Gargoyle's dramatic unmasking during Saturday evening's programme.

The latest instalment featured a spine-tingling Spooktacular special, with presenter Joel Dommett ushering five mystery celebrities back onto the stage.

Ben Shephard stepped in as a guest panellist alongside the regular judging panel of Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Maya Jama and Mo Gilligan. As the episode reached its climax, both Sloth and Gargoyle faced the nail-biting sing-off.

Sadly, Gargoyle was sent packing and revealed to be none other than Marcella Detroit, famed for her work with Shakespears Sister and chart-toppers like Stay and I Believe. The 73 year old also penned the 1977 Eric Clapton classic Lay Down Sally.

Presenter Joel was clearly bowled over, confessing: "I am such a huge fan!"

Reflecting on her time on the programme, Marcella confessed: "I'm really sad to go. It's been an incredible experience. Everyone has been so nice and so much fun. Very helpful, really kind. I got the offer at the beginning of the summer and my husband is British and we have wanted to come back to England for quite some time.

"My husband has been wonderful in that he has come to live with me in America for a few decades, but he was missing his homeland and we've been saying after the pandemic happened, we really want to get back to England and spend some time there.

"Then we got this opportunity, the universe just put it in our laps, we were like 'oh my god, this is so perfect'. So that was one of the reasons and I also thought it would be so much fun."

This follows the revelation that Yak was none other than former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon on last week's programme.

The 69 year old British punk rock legend, better known as Johnny Rotten, was booted out of the ITV singing contest after being defeated by Monkey Business in the sing-off round of the show where famous faces perform whilst donning extravagant disguises.

Reflecting on his stint, he remarked: "Absolutely loved it. I've had a sad sack yak on my back. It's time to go home."

The vocalist subsequently revealed his appearance fee motivated his participation, explaining it will "go a long way" towards funding his upcoming album.

He explained: "I'm in the middle of recording an album and a little bit of extra cash will go a long way towards that budget. We're independent."

Musical theatre sensation and Les Miserables star Samantha Barks triumphed in the 2025 series whilst disguised as a pufferfish.
