The main must-do in the area is visiting Lake Ohid - a site you can hardly miss while you're there. The huge lake is one of Europe's oldest and deepest lakes. It's a natural and cultural treasure shared by Albania and North Macedonia.
One visitor on Tripadvisor said: "This is a beautiful part of the world that once seen, is never forgotten. The town of Ohrid is pretty, with stunning views over the lake.
"There were once 365 churches just in this town but now, there are around 50 if churches are your thing. Climbing up to the Church on the hill is strenuous but worth it just for the view.
"If you have mobility issues, Ohrid might be challenging but there are plenty of cafes at the lake side to sit and enjoy the view.
"You can take a boat ride out onto the lake too. It is a charming town with stunning views and well worth a visit."
