Thirthahalli: A tragic accident claimed the life of an innocent man due to the rash and negligent driving of a car driver on Sunday, January 18, on the National Highway at Shivrajapura.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh, a resident of Shivrajapura on the outskirts of the town. He ran a small shop and also operated a Maruti van to transport schoolchildren.
On the day of the incident, Ramesh was preparing to travel towards Shivamogga in his Maruti van to distribute wedding invitation cards of a villager. Meanwhile, he had parked his vehicle in front of his shop along the Agumbe road at Shivrajapura and was unloading some shop items from the vehicle.
At that time, a car coming from the Agumbe side reportedly veered completely onto the wrong side of the road at high speed and rammed into the stationary Maruti van and Ramesh, who was standing beside it. The impact proved fatal.
Ramesh is survived by his wife, two daughters and a large number of relatives. A case has been registered at the Thirthahalli police station, and further investigation is under way.
