An important update for teachers across the country. As you are aware, the Hon’ble Supreme Court passed an important decision at the end of last year. TET was made compulsory for teachers.

Teachers who have not given the TET examination have been ordered to clear the TET within two years. It also made it clear that those teachers who do not pass the exam will get forced retirement.

Meanwhile, an important information regarding TET compulsion is coming to the fore. TET Compulsory decision will not apply to some teachers. That means they will get exemption from this order. In such a situation, now we will briefly try to know the information regarding which teachers can be excluded from TET compulsory decision.

Thousands of teachers will get relief

According to the information received, some teachers will be exempted from the TET examination by the central government and for this, detailed information about the teachers has been sought from the state government.

According to the important circular of the state government dated 13th January 2026, necessary information has been called for giving exemption from compulsory teacher eligibility test.

It has been said that the age wise information of the teachers has been sought from the state government. In this order, it has been said that the independent information of the teachers who joined the government service before 2011 and the teachers who joined after that has been sought.

It is said that TET will be mandatory for teachers who have been appointed after the implementation of the National Child Right to Education Act.

But teachers who were appointed before 2011 i.e. before the National Right to Education Act came into force are likely to be exempted from TET. Surely these said teachers will get a big relief if they are exempted from the TET compulsory decision.
