If you want delicious bacon that isn't dry after you cook it, you should ditch frying. Bacon is one of those foods that you include in almost everything, whether it's in a burger, in a salad, in a sandwich or as part of a full English breakfast. How bacon is cooked depends on how you like it. But most of the time, people want bacon that doesn't feel dry on their tongue. If that's you, then you should ditch frying and choose this alternative method for cooking bacon.
One desperate bacon fan took to social media for help as their bacon kept coming off the pan dry. In a Reddit post, they explained: "I have no idea why, but whether I cook bacon, it becomes so dry that there is no gloss the moment I move it to a dish." They revealed that they added the bacon to the frying pan at room temperature, and cooked it on a medium heat until it was golden brown. However, it was still dry.
While there are ways to get bacon tastier when frying it, such as adding butter to the pan, many people opt for baking it in the oven instead. One responder revealed that this is their go-to method.
"Try baking your bacon," they said. "Lay out your pieces on a foil-lined sheet and put them in a cold oven on the middle rack."
In a separate Reddit thread, one person said they "absolutely" always choose baking bacon over frying it. "Oven is the way to go for me," another shared. "Line with parchment, start in a cold oven set to 400F wait 15-20ish minutes depending on thickness."
Experts have also recommended this method on many occasions. One of them, Alex Delany from recipe site Bon Appétit, says: "Making bacon in the oven, instead of a skillet, is easier, way less messy, and better for your kitchen than cooking it in a skillet. You're welcome."
If you still want to cook bacon in a frying pan, then there are a few things you can do to improve the results. Some experts recommend adding a small bit of water to the frying pan, while others argue that cooking it on a lower heat for longer bears better results.
However, the added benefit of cooking bacon in the oven is that there tends to be less cleaning up. That is also true when it comes to cooking bacon in an air fryer, for those who have these handy devices in their kitchens.
