Bhubaneswar: Talented young archer Pritismita Bhui, renowned hockey coach Kalucharan Chaudhuri and the MGM Group were on Sunday awarded the annual honours by the Odisha Sports Journalists’ Association (OSJA).
Pritismita was given a cash award of Rs 25,000, a certificate, shawl and a special trophy as the best athlete of the month for January 2025. Kalucharan Chaudhuri, honoured with the Lifetime Service Award, also received cash award, certificate, a shawl and trophy.
MGM Group was recognised for special contributions in promoting sports.
Odisha’s Sports minister Suryabanshi Suraj was the chief guest and Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey the special guest for the event which was held at the auditorium of Tennis Centre, Kalinga Stadium.
On the various demands made by OSJA, Suraj announced that a media centre will be set up within the premises of the world-class badminton infrastructure ‘Sattal.’
In this regard, if any obstacles arise or proposals remain, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj had requested to bring them to our attention.
Acknowledging the role of sports journalists, the minister said arrangements will be made very soon for a sports museum at Kalinga Stadium.
Suraj said the state government is working for comprehensive development of sports from the grassroots level. He said anyone facing any obstacle should bring it to the ministry’s attention.
