Missing a parcel delivery is frustrating - particularly when you've been anticipating its arrival for weeks.

One man was left baffled after checking his Amazon order status to find it had switched from 'out for delivery' to 'delivered' whilst he was away from home.

However, upon investigating further, he couldn't help but chuckle when he spotted that his delivery driver had snapped a photo of his dog positioned next to his online purchases as confirmation of drop-off.

The driver had even amended the delivery details to state: "Delivered to a family member direct".

Following the posting of the charming image on Reddit, one commenter said: "I hope you tipped him... in pets."

Meanwhile, another contributor questioned: "I'd really love to know how they got the dog to sign for the delivery," whilst a third person joked: "I'm imagining the Amazon driver pulling out one of those ink pads and the dog signing the paper with his paw print.", reports the Mirror.

When discussing his pet's temperament, the owner said: "He is so friendly he might just let a robber in and show him where all the valuables are."

This follows a similar incident involving Paul Conway, 61, who ordered sunglasses online but was pipped to the door by his labrador, Mazie, when the courier turned up.

The pooch was caught in the proof of delivery photograph, poking her head through the doorway and gazing up at the package. The married father-of-one quipped: "It looks as though they are delivering it to my dog. I found it quite funny as all you can see is the dog looking up at the package in courier's hand."

Paul, who shares his home with wife Jane, has been a proud pet parent to eight year old Mazie since she was just a wee pup.

He further explained that despite appearances, Mazie isn't quite adept at receiving parcels herself, saying: "The courier knocked on the door and my wife opened it to receive the package. But she was behind the door still so they just took a photo of our dog."
