Jason Bell believes the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams have the makings of a true Super Bowl-winning team. The NFL playoffs are getting down to the nitty-gritty with eight teams ready to fight it out in the Divisional Round.
The Buffalo Bills and the Houston Texans are the only two teams without a Lombardi trophy in their locker. However, former New York Giants cornerback Bell is adamant that a previous Super Bowl winner will make it all the way to the confetti again this year. The 47-year-old won a Lombardi trophy with the Giants in 2007 against a formidable New England Patriots team that included Tom Brady. Now, the ex-NFL star turned Sky Sports presenter spoke exclusively to the Express regarding his picks for this year's final game of the season.
Bell said: "My NFC [pick] is the Rams, which I almost blew up. I was stressed out, man, my legs were weak. It was tough, but that's the playoffs. You just don't know. You can't take anything for granted. And the team is going to fight whoever's playing. It's going to be tough.
"It's funny, because your identity kind of guides you through the playoffs. This has been a comeback team, the Bears, Caleb Williams, his celebrations, ice in his veins, all that. You saw it on display.
"And it's what you expect. Bears fans have been desperate for a long time for a quarterback like this and now it's happening. I watched it again this morning and I was like, I can't believe what happened.
"And we're going to give all the love to the quarterback, of course, but it was a team effort. I mean, the defence came with stops. The offence made plays, special teams made plays and that's what you see in championship football. It was fun."
Quarterback Caleb Williams has led the Bears to a 12-6 regular season record and beat Green Bay Packers 31-27 in the Wildcard Round. Veteran Matthew Stafford went 12-5 with the Rams and is up against the Bears in the Divisional Round on Sunday night.
Only one team will make it through to the Conference Championship game and Bell is excited for yet another twist in the tale of this year's NFL season. He added: "This has been fantastic, all right. The playoffs are wide open, you just don't know what's going to happen. It's way more fun, I would say, even going into playoffs.
"The first thought was, nobody knew [who would make it], which was interesting. Like, if we don't know, if everyone's like it can go anywhere, imagine what it feels like for the fans, and that's what you want."
