Karur stampede case: Vijay questioned by CBI for second time

TVK chief and actor Vijay appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday for a second round of questioning in connection with the Karur stampede case, officials said.
Vijay arrived at the CBI headquarters on Lodhi Road earlier in the day, accompanied by a convoy of vehicles. He is being questioned by a team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police-rank officer from the agency’s Anti-Corruption Unit, officials added.
The actor-politician was earlier questioned at the CBI headquarters on January 12, when he spent over six hours with investigators. He had been asked to appear again last week but sought a deferment citing the Pongal festival, officials said.
The CBI took over the investigation from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) following directions from the Supreme Court. The agency has since been collecting evidence related to the September 27, 2025 stampede in Tamil Nadu’s Karur district, which resulted in 41 deaths and left over 60 people injured.
