PHOTOS: PM Modi gave special traditional gifts to the President of UAE, know what?

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in India on Monday. During this, PM Modi broke the protocol and received him at the airport. Later, PM Modi took Nahyan to his official residence, where he gave traditional Indian gifts to his special guest.

Sheikh Zayed held a meeting with the Prime Minister at his official residence. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), important issues related to trade, investment, defense cooperation, energy and the world were discussed between the two leaders.

After the talks, PM Modi gifted a royally carved wooden swing to UAE President Nahyan, which is a beautifully carved wooden swing from Gujarat. It is a staple of many Gujarati families.

This hand-crafted swing has intricate carvings of flowers and traditional designs, showcasing skilled craftsmanship. In Gujarati culture, Jhula symbolizes unity, interaction and connection between generations. This gift is also linked to the UAE declaring 2026 as the Year of the Family.

Apart from this, the PM also gifted her a pashmina shawl in a decorated silver box. Pashmina shawls come from Kashmir and are made by hand from very fine wool. It is very soft and warm. This shawl is housed in a decorative silver box made in Telangana. Together, they showcase India's rich tradition of handloom and handicrafts.

PM Modi also gifted a pashmina shawl in a decorated silver box to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi. He was also gifted Kashmiri saffron in a decorated silver box. Saffron grown in the Kashmir Valley is famous for its deep red fibers and strong fragrance.

Let us tell you that this visit will provide an opportunity to further advance the India-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership and open new avenues of cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

United Arab Emirates i.e. UAE is India's third largest trading partner. There is trade worth more than Rs 6 lakh crore between the two countries. In this, UAE has imported Rs 2 lakh crore from India.

India exports petroleum products, metals, stones, gems and jewellery, minerals, food items like grains, sugar, fruits and vegetables, tea, meat and seafood, textiles, engineering machinery products and chemicals etc. to UAE.
