A fitness expert has revealed how anyone can shed 1lb of fat weekly through one straightforward lifestyle adjustment. January traditionally prompts reflection on the year gone by and consideration of changes for the months to come.

For countless individuals, this involves seeking self-improvement, whether for mental wellbeing or physical health. Some may scrutinise their eating habits following the festive season's excesses, whilst others might seek to boost their mood through outdoor activities or increased exercise.

For those aiming to drop some pounds in the new year, Louis Baker-Stroud, who shares fitness, gym and nutrition guidance on TikTok, has revealed one simple modification that can result in losing 1lb of fat weekly.

The fitness professional explained that incorporating a few thousand additional steps into your daily routine could help shift up to half a stone.

He stated: "Episode one of losing one pound of fat every single week by just making one simple change that even the dimmest village idiot could do.

"You could lose up to half a stone without having to skip breakfast, count your syns or become a complete carnivore t**s p*t.

"The first thing I want you to do is just add 2,000 more steps to your day than what you're currently doing. If you're doing 3,000 at the minute, start doing 5,000 every day. Just don't miss a day."

Adding an extra 2,000 steps to your daily routine would take between 15 to 30 minutes, which could easily be accomplished during a lunch break or by opting to walk to a nearby shop instead of driving.

Louis' advice was met with gratitude in the comments section. One individual remarked: "Well that's a good, easy tip so I'm gonna drop you a follow."

Another pledged: "Ill give it a go."

However, not everyone was convinced by Louis' suggestion, with several commenters noting that they were already achieving 10,000 steps a day but still struggling to lose weight.

One person countered: "Buddy. I'm already past 10 thousand steps daily. I'm not adding an extra mile every day when I'm already over 5 miles every day.."

Another lamented: "I'm already doing like 13000 steps a day. I find losing weight impossible."

According to the NHS website, a brisk 10-minute daily walk can offer numerous health benefits and is one of the simplest ways to increase physical activity, lose weight and improve overall health.

A brisk walk is approximately three miles per hour, which is faster than a leisurely stroll. You'll know you're walking briskly if you can still converse but are unable to sing the lyrics to a song.
