Weather maps have revealed that the UK should expect more days of freezing conditions and snowfall, with WXCharts showing a large stretch of snow across Northern Ireland, Wales and South-east England towards the end of January.

The maps generated using Metdesk data display a large white patch covering a large part of Northern Ireland, including Belfast, Wales and the South-east of England, with Plymouth narrowly escaping it. The heavy snow indicated by the patch is forecast for January 27, with freezing conditions expected to persist throughout the following days.

Temperatures across the nation will hit levels above net zero, with parts of Wales even reaching -6C by January 29, just two days after the snowfall.

Purple patches can also be seen in parts of Scotland, including Dundee and Aberdeen, as well as Northern England, specifically within the Tyne and Wear area.

WXChart's predicted freeze comes as the Met Office has already issued several yellow weather warnings this week for the UK, alerting Brits to strong winds and rain that could lead to flooding.

Brits have been urged to check road conditions ahead of travelling in order to avoid delays and to check if your property is at risk of flooding - if so, you should prepare a flood plan and flood kit.

According to the weather agency, the brutal weather patterns have originated in the Atlantic, with the UK caught in the havoc, and it is likely to stay that way for the next couple of weeks.

The Met Office's long-range forecast for January 24 to February 2 states: "The UK will likely continue to sit in the battleground between Atlantic weather systems attempting to push in from the west, but tending to stall in the vicinity of the UK as they encounter high pressure to the North and northeast.

"As such, further spells of rain or showers are likely at times, which may be heavy and persistent, especially in the south and west, with the best of any drier interludes in the far north and northwest. Whilst mild conditions will encroach into the south and west at times, it is likely to turn somewhat colder through this period, bringing the risk of some snow, more especially on hills in Scotland and northern England."

It is crucial that you remain up to date with local weather forecasts to be aware of any changes and updates, as they can change fairly quickly.
