There are millions of PF account holders in the country whose jobs, savings, and future plans are directly linked to the EPFO. Therefore, every new facility related to the Employees' Provident Fund Organization becomes extremely important for these employees. Now, there is great news for millions of employees.
From April 2026, EPF account holders will be able to withdraw their PF money directly through UPI. This facility will be especially useful for those who currently face difficulties withdrawing money through the online portal. Under the new system, PF withdrawals will begin with the BHIM app.
Employees will be able to access their PF account linked to EPFO by opening the BHIM app on their mobile phones. The money will be transferred directly to the bank account linked to UPI. This will significantly reduce the need to fill out long forms and wait for several days.
On the BHIM app, employees will not only be able to withdraw money but also instantly check their PF balance. It will clearly show the total amount deposited, the amount available for withdrawal, and the minimum balance required to be maintained in the account.
Initially, after using the BHIM app, PF account holders can link their account to other UPI apps. This link will be with the bank account that is linked to Aadhaar. As soon as the facility is launched, employees will be able to directly request withdrawals through any UPI app such as Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm.
After this, the money will be credited to the account within a few minutes. To avail of this facility, some necessary conditions must be met. Your UAN must be active. Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account must be linked and verified with the UAN. Also, the mobile number linked to Aadhaar should be active so that there are no problems with OTP and verification.
Once this feature goes live, employees will be able to submit withdrawal requests through their BHIM UPI app. Upon receiving the request, the EPFO system will automatically verify the details and transfer the money instantly to the linked bank account.
