Finn Allen made into the record books with a remarkable batting performance for the Perth Scorchers in the 2025-26 year of the Big Bash League. New Zealand batter Allen, during the Qualifier against the Sydney Sixers at Perth Stadium, blasted his sixth number 36 into the season, thereby drawing level with Mitchell Owen's 2024-25 record.
Just moments after, Allen drilled yet another one over the ropes to move to 37 sixes, thus becoming the record holder for most sixes in one BBL season.
The record-breaking one off Jack Edwards came in the sixth over when Allen pulled a short ball over deep backward square leg. That wicket showcased why he has been amongst the most desolate hitters in world T20 cricket. His power, quick hands, and clean ball-striking ability are what made him a mandatory watch this season.
A Season of Constant Power-Hitting
Finn Allen's performance this season did not depend upon one or two big innings; it has been a series of massive innings from the very opening of the tournament. His aggressive power play approach has given the Perth Scorchers great starts in almost every game.
This new record places him ahead of some of the biggest hitters ever to play in the league, among them Ben Mcdermott, Alex Hales, Marcus Stoinis, and Liam Livingstone. Even more praiseworthy is the fact Allen achieved that mark on the hardest stage in the playoffs.

Allen fell short of a half-century, as he was dismissed by Ben Dwarshuis for 49 off 30 balls. His quick-fire innings included four maximums and two boundaries, at a strike rate of 163.33. In his bid for a milestone fifty, however, his work was already completed, having attained the BBL sixes record with his turn of the shoulder.
High-Stakes Qualifier in Perth
The Sixers elected to bowl first, putting the target-setting task for the Scorchers. Perth began aggressively, with Finn Allen not letting up on his scoring streak, reaching 49 off 30 deliveries until he was out to Ben Dwarshuis. Mitchell Marsh departed early, but Aaron Hardie and Josh Inglis were at the crease and at the time of writing, Scorchers are at 69-2 after 9 overs.
With a guaranteed entry into the BBL final at stake, both teams are going all out for this intense knockout match played under lights at Perth.
